My boyfriend and I have been dating my boyfriend for eight months now. I met his parents when we had been dating four months and he met mine at five months (his are more laid back and mine are a bit more strict at certain points).

I now want him to meet my extended family, but the only problem with this is that they live in a different state 1000 miles away. I go visit them at least twice a year because I'm still in school. During summer and winter vacation. Each visit is about two weeks long.

I was thinkking that this year I could try to bring him with me, but I haven't suggested it to my parents. They say its ok for me to bring a friend but I dont think they thought Id ask to bring him (which I haven't askked yet).

Do you think that my parents would approve? They do likke him and they do trust him, but i dont no if they would approve of my suggestion. My family is big so i usually roam from one house to another and i dont no if all my family would approve of him staying the night (we dont even have to stay in the same bed or room at night, im perfectly ok with that). I jsut wish him to come and see my family since ive seen all of his. I no that when I ask the worse they can do is say no, but I would still likke suggestions of wat you think ur own parents or you (if ur a parent) would say to this.

I havent told him im thinkking about having him come btw because if they DO say no, i dnt want him to be disappointed. Thank you (:

How old are you both?

They may be ok with it if you stay in seperate rooms or something, I'm guessing your both school age.

My boyfriends Mum and Dad were ok with me staying at theirs and his at mine as long a we didn't sleep in the same room as we were both under 18 and they thought it was unnapropriate etc...

Unless you're getting married, there's no reason to meet the extended family....especially if it entails 1000 miles of unsupervised travel.

So, unless your parents are frankly stupid, I'd seriously doubt they'd approve of this....and furthermore, it will make them question both your credibility as well as look a bit more closely at what you guys actually do when you're together.

You'll never know unless you ask.

I think you might ask if he could accompany you not so much to met the family (that's just such an unbelievable reason), but b/c you'd like to bring a friend along. That's a much more reasonable reason, teens often bring friends along on family trips/vacations, yours just happens to be a guy.
