I was texting my friend who i like and i straight up asked her "so i heard a rumor that you like me is it true?" and her answer was "of course i like you, were friends!" I said "Oh" and she responded with a winky face like this is she trying to tell me she likes me or does she not??

She could be. It could be difficult to tell through text messages, but a "" could be interpreted as a little bit of flirting. I personally can tell easier having face to face conversation.
Then again, she might've meant to put a "" or just likes to use the "" here and there. I used to use it all the time for no reason when I was younger :p

I would approach her about it casually. Dont go out of your way to show your card that you like her back.

But in person is really the only way to figure this out. Otherwise it is just way to hard to figure out what someone is thinking and feeling.

Ask her if she "like likes" you (via text of course, thatd be awkward in person), but make sure your close to her when you text her, and if she says yes, i'd ask her out right on the spot.

Only kidding ^-^ As already mentioned, it's difficult to tell through text, so I would just talk to her in person and either ask her straight up if you have the guts, or just look for clues that she's flirting. The latter should be very easy to spot (;

You so should have put a ":(" and her reaction would have told you everythinggg.

I didnt think of that, it sounds smart. But then again im sure she would find a way to give a neutral message. Or to totally mess with your mind she would just not reply.... Haha

I'm pretty sure that means she likes you but it's hard to say for sure. Just ask... the worst she can say is no.
