Default Prom?

For any of you that have attended your high school prom, is it really worth all the hype? And for anyone that didn't go an have graduated, do you regret not going or wish you had?

Everyone here is starting to talk about prom.. And even though I'm very awkward and haven't been to a dance since middle school (because all it was was standing around awkwardly and talking over crappy music) but I kind of feel like I should at least try to act like school events interest me before I graduate.

I don't know how my boyfriend would feel about it though.. I feel like we'd just..not know what to do. He's the same way as me about dances an he doesn't even go to the same school. I know he's not going to ask me, he probably doesn't even know when it is and he's graduating early before it, but I don't know if I'm sold enough on going to bring it up with him. Would that be weird to ask him?

Sorry for the stupid post, haha >_<

Ehh, I guess everyone has their own opinion about prom. It also depends on how well your school plans big events such as this. I attended my junior prom last year, and I can honestly say it sucked hardcore. Back then, I never was one to socialize very much, and our school failed miserably trying to plan a decent prom. Mine was pretty much like our middle school dances only people dressed up more fancy and there were way too many slow songs.

I honestly think everyone should experience their first prom no matter how much it may suck. It can actually be fun if you enjoy socializing, getting all dolled up, and getting tons of photos taken. If you feel a little awkward about it, try being more social and less shy on a daily basis. You may be a little uncomfortable at first, but if you think positive and surround yourself with people that make you comfortable I am sure you will be fine.

I think you should go. It's the last dance of high school and you might have fun. Like the other girl said you get to dress up and hang out with all of your friends. Maybe you could request some songs that you like. My prom is coming up soon too and I'm excited. It could be fun lol Go Class of 2012!

My philosophy is that if I don't have a date, I'm not going. However, you do have a date (your boyfriend). And from what you've told us about him, he's a pretty solid guy, and would probably go with you if you asked.
