Different cultures have different requirements for their teens, depending on religion and background. For example many countries across Asia are extremely strict about education and religion, in China for a teenager it is compulsory for them to attend ‘Chinese school’ so that they can learn a greater range of knowledge and perfect their language aswell as normal school so that they can learn other subjects too. This leaves them no time for extra activities outside of school as the majority of them have to study for a few hours every night before and after dinner. Here in Britain that would be an extremely rare sight even amongst the most stricest of parents. So, does this mean we have it easy? Or does this just mean we get the easy way out? Having said this, many teens do take this approach in higher education if they desire to become a professional in there prefered choice of career as they may feel pressured to do so by teachers and career advisors.

this was my next paragraph :-) whatcha think?

Well, here's what I can say about my Grandmother at least...

She had 8 brothers and sisters and was the second oldest of them all.
By the time she was 7 she was already taking care of her younger siblings because her mom was never in the best of health.
She got married at 14 almost 15 to my grandfather who was about 20. The reason for this is so she wouldn't have to put up with her family near as much (that plus she loved him).
She continued to go to school until 17 or 18 and afterward she started working.
She started working in the mail room, but because of her naturally high intelligence, organization, math skills and hard work, she became a trusted member of the company and moved up from the mail room.

As for my grandfather, I don't know too much about his childhood - because he's deaf and hard to talk to. But from what I know he started working young and ended up working on an oil field.

Generally I think we do have it pretty easier these days. We have way more luxury items and do generally less work for them.
Back then they were working hard to make sure they had food on the table and a roof over their heads.
70 years ago was 1940, WWII was still going on. My grandparents grew up during war-time, nothing was easy to come by back then.

We may have more pressure for school and a larger work-load now but generally they had it a lot tougher back then.
Also, homework didn't exactly exist back then either... generally kids finished all their work in school because they had no time for homework.
