Default Class Rings?

I am in an interesting situation and see what everyone thinks. Right now i am int he process of getting my class ring. My dad has also offered me instead of getting a class ring get a tungstun carbide ring [infinitytungsten.com]so it look more of a nice genric ring and ingrave the school and year i am graduating in the bottom so i can wear it forever but still consider it a class ring. I have been looking at the class rings from my selection the school gave me and they have some really neat ones but i don't know if i would want mine so Fancy but then again it is the class rings that most of my class will be wearing. What do you think i should do?

Well, both choices commemorate something meaningful... graduation. The issue really is how meaningful it is for you. Right now, HS graduation is a real accomplishment. But, if you're going to Uni, then that accomplishment will shortly be overshadowed by college, and graduation from there.

Personally, I always found HS ring, the ones with the name of the school engraved on the sides and the stone being the school color, to be a rather temporary thrill, overshadowed by college.

Any type of jewelry, any ring, can mark the occasion without necessarily dating it by being so closely identified with it stylistically. If you're going onto Uni,, consider not only how you feel about a high school ring now, but how you might feel about it later, too.

I think graduating is extremely important and having something to remember it by that you can enjoy daily (not just your diploma or money in grad cards) is a good idea.
I don't know if I'd mess with an official class ring. It seems really cool now because everyone wants to wear it, but when you're in college, chances are you won't be wearing it. But if you got a more natural looking ring, you could wear it all the time and really enjoy it more.
That's what I think anyway.

Nah. I didn't get one of those; I'd rather just buy a ring not school related
