I think you would regret not going. You're only gonna have one opportunity, and you shouldn't miss it. Whether it's a good or bad experience, you make tons of memories at prom, and it would be a shame to miss out.

Why are you debating whether or not you should go? Typically most people want to go by default! So if something's giving you doubts, think about whether or not going would be personally worth it for you.

I didn't go because a) I disliked secondary school and didn't want to commemorate it by pretending I cared how debatably 'pretty' the bullies could look, and b) it was expensive for something that was ultimately very tacky and likely would have been humiliating for me. I've certainly never regretted giving the prom a miss.
Having said that, maybe your prom's got a reputation for being notoriously good, or you want the opportunity to spend some quality, reflective time with your friends all looking gorgeous. Whereabouts do you live, can I ask? I know that in England you get just one prom when you're fifteen/sixteen and are thereafter going onto college, so it's generally seen as something more exclusive & worthwhile. Whereas in America there seem to be yearly prom-esque events!

I think you should go, its one of the experience of growing up and one that you won't get a second chance at. You should have fun while your young and enjoy it.

Aw, that shouldn't put you off! It might not be trouble; so long as it's the right time of year you'll have a lot of options and variety, and you might be able to turn dress-hunting into something fun by going with your friends and teaming it with a day out.

Personally, even if I had the option of going I still wouldn't have gone. Way too much hassle for a night of misery. Why would I want to get all nice looking to hang out with a bunch of people who hate me and get hit on by a bunch of guys who treated me like crap for so many years?

Besides, my friends already decided they were gonna raid it and... they... did... I heard it was funny and chaotic. There was lots of squealing and screaming.
But I didn't go to school at that time so I couldn't have gone even if I had wanted to, either way I never saw a point in it... seriously... what's the point in going? I've tried to think of one but I just can't seem to come up with anything.

Meh, I wouldn't go. Too much hassle for no gain. But it depends, do you like going to school dances or not?

Definitely go to prom. I was set on not going to one, but I ended up going anyway. Best damn night of my 17 year old life.
