Default Don't know what to do.

So i was thinking about quitting college and giving up. But i'm not because i like doing sport and want to become a sports teacher.

I am currently studying history and sport.

I am fed up with history, the lessons are boring i just sit there, and we just take notes and i can't stand it. I am on the verge of quitting history because i can't take it anymore. If i did quit history i need to pick up another subject because i need to gain ucas points to get into uni.

So my question really is..
1. Is it worth quitting history if i don't like it?
2. What subjects are enjoyable (in college)?
3. How do i tell my parents? "/

Well if you are not happy studying history right now then chances are that you are not going to like teaching it in the future. If you can't decide then try out a few things to see what you like, I'm not saying to waste your time, just see what you like. Don't worry about your parents, just explain that you are not happy with your major and that you want to switch, they should understand and respect your desicion.

Good choice to stay in college I know where you're coming from with history, I droppe dit after the first year as I couldn't stand it, although I was already doing 4 A levels and only needed to 3 for uni so wasnt a big deal.

To answer your questions:

1. It depends. Are you likely to get the grade you need in it you think? If you really cannot stand it then might be worth dropping it, but you'd pick up a subject and have half the year to do a years worth of work. So if you could grin and bear it then it may make your workload less?
What year are you in actually? As that would affect whether I suggest dropping it or not.

2. It's a personal preference really, I'm quite good at the sciency/maths stuff and so quite enjoyed chemistry but it's all about personal opinion so can't tell you what you'd enjoy. Only suggestion I can make is take a look at if there's any specific requirements for uni (if you haven't already) for the course you'd like and get a rough idea if there's any subjects specifically most unis are looking for that course.

3. Just be upfront about. Say you're not enjoying it and as a result you're finding it ahrd so you're going to speak to your teachers/head of year/whoever about the best course of action and possibly switching subjects. I would imagine they'd be understanding

im half way through my first year, which means if i switched i would have to wait till next year for a new subject

p.s my parents are the ones who wouldn't understand as i'm the child who has to have the good education because my brothers have failed them so they have mroe pressure on me to succeed

Oh right okay, in which case I'd say yeah go ahead and switch then if you really can't stand it. I thought you were in your last year which if you swapped then would ahve put ALOT of pressure on you for the last half a year, probably less so if you swap now.

I'd still check out uni requirements and talk with your teachers for advice before you go ahead and do it though

Oh right :/ that sucks a little. It's worth pointing out though that you would still be getting just as good an education, the only difference is you'd be doing a subject you are more interested in and that you'd enjoy. So long as it wouldn't damage your chances of getting into uni (like if you wanted to be a history teacher ) and you've discussed with your teachers and they agree aswell then I can't see much for your parents to object to

Haha yeah

Perhaps talk to your teacher first about it then, if you can go to your parents and say "I'd like to swap history for whatever and I've spoken to so and so about it and discussed it" and can show that you've really thought about it and discussed with teachers then it'll probably go down better than "I want to drop history." if you're worried aabout their reaction
