Default English exam thing on Wednesday

I'm in year 10, and we're doing about Of Mice And Men, so our exam is about Curley's wife. Even though we're doing it in lesson time and in our class room, it's the first exam which will affect our GCSE level. I'm nervous and worried about that, especially since I've done so well at English the past. I've got level 7's before, so now I'm aiming for A*'s. If I get any less, I'll be disappointed. I hope I get an A*..

OMG, my literature exam was on that book too, you'll be bloody sick of it by the end of year 11.

Can't believe it's been 3 years since I was in year 10, anyway you need any help just drop me a message, I still remember some of it.

Haha.. Ugh, I know that. I'm getting sick of it already. We've been told we'll have to read it again in year 11 >_<
Reading tests are so annoying - we have to put more thought into the book than the author did in tear apart every little detail of it.. I'll be happy when we do creative writing, which will hopefully be more enjoyable.

Okay, thanks. I will do.

Personally, I liked Of Mind and Men. Another good one was Farenheight 451. I really liked reading about the agricultural mentionings of the former book, as it reminded me much of when I was younger.

Good luck!

I actually didn't mind the book and probably would have thought it was okay, but annalysing it so much has made me find it very boring and annoying.

I did my controlled assessment on Lennie. We had a choice of George, Lennie and Curley's wife. Lennie is by far the easiest.

But in Curley's wife's case, try to talk about how she may be misunderstood by the men on the farm and is just really a lonely woman looking for some attention.
You can talk about how Curley looks at her sort of as a "trophy wife" and doesn't give her the male attention she desires, therefore she goes around the ranch flirting with the ranch hands in hopes of attention and even friendship (In Lennies case)
They mention how she likes to dress up in revealing and extravagant clothes and apply lots of make up onto her face. You can argue that she's the only woman on the ranch and therefore has nothing else to do, so she spend most of her time trying to look pretty.

Anyways, you probably don't need to know any of that but I'm sticking it in here just in case. Good luck and hope you get the A*!

We didn't get a choice.

Yeah, that's what I'm writing about. Thanks anyway, though.

Same here, it wouldn't matter what book you were reading, you wouldn't care if you never read it again by the end. you're better at it than me, I barely got a C.
