Imo, yes its fair. The teachers job is to teach but its your responsibility to make sure find a way of learning that works best for you. If you simply rely on a teacher to spew the info at you at the front of the class and expect to take in as much as you should, you're obviously not going to do as well as if you take the info home, study it in a way that works for you and do the assigned work. Saying that its not fair simply makes you seem like the type of student who wants good grades without making the proper effort and I sure well hope that you're weeded out of the few good students who actually get into good schools BECAUSE they have worked hard for their good grades.
