If you want to leave/enter school at lunch then you have to have a lunch pass with your passport photo on it. We can't buy food by handing over money either, we have a biometric system where you deposit money in a machine and you have your own account matched to your fingerprint. You put your finger on the scanner and they deduct the money from your account.
It annoys me we can't leave school at dinner now unless you pay for a pass. Feels like a prison.
