Makes me glad in my state it's 17 of your own consent but I believe it's 16 with parental consent.

EXCUSE ME?! I'm 14 and I'm a very rational thinker infact alot of my school is. Putting an age on something as natural as sex is like putting a ban on a bag of doritos because it's "processed junk food" It's individuality and the schools are to blame for high teenage pregnancy rates. Also I WOULDN'T BE SAYING ANYTHING because your state also has the most teenage pregnancy rates! Texas has failed their teenagers and youth with that Abstinence-only Sex Ed, Bullshit!

but don't people mature at different rates. I mean i know some really immature people who are a lot older than me and they legally can have sex. and i can think of a few younger people who can handle themselves really well like a 15 year old girl i know who will be graduating high school next year and is already taking college classes in the evening. she acts more like she is 20 than 15. a person's age doesn't mean they can, or can't handle doing this or that. maybe some can handle having sex at a certian age, while others can't. i kinda think legally turning a specific age doesn't really mean all that much in terms of what a person is capable of doing or handling. there are generalizations that can be made based on what most can do or can't do, but its not black-n-white that applies to everyone.

Um, not true. I had sex-ed from 6th grade to high school and I still got pregnant. A school cannot stop teenagers from having sex. The school can help teens take precautions but it will ultimately be the teens choice.

not the way my school does it. You show them a video of what each STI/HIV looks like and they hold off.

Every single student held off on having sex? Sorry, I find that hard to believe. We were shown pictures of STD's and we were shown a documentary on teen pregnancy and I, nor a lot of my peers, held on on having sex.
