me and this girl are really good friends and loads of people say were like a married couple like those ones that fight a lot but its like a love/hate thing thats just a bit of a joke so we can make up and that its really nice but how can i ask her how she really feels about me and what are your views on what i should do if i want to take it to the next level??

What if she brings out the "i dont want to ruin our friendship" excuse or doesnt want to talk about? whats the best way to approach it. I'm a confident guy so i'll do almost anything to be with her.

Well, maybe choose a moment when you're both alone and when you're sure no one will interrupt. You can start off by getting a bit silent to slow down any past conversations, and when you reach the «almost-awkward-silence-moment», ask a mysterious question like... "I was thinking about something the other day/I have been thinking about something and I wanted your opinion on it...". Don't be too cold about it, try to keep a smile to give her stability and not intrigue her to the point where she gets unstable/anxious (I don't know what kind of girl she is but it should be fine either way). Don't be too slow at getting to the point though. Just ask her what she thinks about you, if she only sees you as a friend.

It isn't always an excuse, and if she doesn't want to talk about it, then she wont, and there is no way to force her.
