awfulcopter has questions, and you have answers (for virgins)
Greetings, denizens of Sexuality forum, I come in peace.
I have been curious about this for awhile, and figured you guys would be able to share all the steamy details and thus satisfy my curiosity. Here goes:
To teens out there who are keeping their virginity for reasons OTHER than religious beliefs, why? I've noticed a lot of people tend to automatically assume that when someone is waiting to have sex, particularly until marriage, they must be doing so for religious reasons. I used to think so as well, but then I started to meet more and more people who were not devoutly religious (or even atheist) and still decided to wait.
SO, I am interested in hearing why. Note that I'm not trying to start a debate here or anything, I'm just wondering. Again, I am particularly interested in hearing from people who are waiting for reasons that are NOT related to religion.
Poll should be up, check all that apply.
Note: This is obviously not directed at those who identify as asexual, because the reasons for abstaining in this particular case are fairly obvious.

The question I'm asking is for people who have made the choice to wait, for whatever reason. "Single" as a reason for being a virgin implies that you are planning to lose your virginity when you start dating, hence the question doesn't apply to you.

It's not that I don't want to have sex with my girlfriend, it's just that I think we jumped into it too soon. I think if we were starting now, or a little before now, that I would be more comfortable. It slightly warped our relationship.

You could have told me.
Ah well, if I had waited until I was 17/18 to get into sex, I probably wouldn't regret it. Thing is, I was 15, and it was against my will. Stupid mistake, but I'm over it, and it's a lesson to be learned.
