Default Does anyone play Basketball?

I have only played basketball for two years. I am 15 and about 5'8". Last year, my first year playing, I had an amazing shot. If I was open anywhere on the court, 3-pointer or mid-range jumper, I could nail the shot. However, this year, I have not found my shot. I think that this may be due to the fact that I grew 7-8 inches last year. If anyone has any advice on how to help me get my jump shot back, I'd like their imput.

Moved to sports discussion

You've grown a lot in one year and that may have something to do with it. If you were doing shots like you say before, the you did have your technique correct. My advice to you would be to just practice. I play football myself and not basketball so I can't give you helpful advice in regards to your technique, but it does sound like you know what you're doing.

For my football side I took free kicks and corners, and occasionally I'd have a spell where I'd underhit them, then I'd over compensate and overhit them, and it knocked my confidence a lot, and sports is often very much a confidence thing and this is what it sounds like to me, a blip in form that's knocked your confidence a little.

My suggestion would be to go out on you own and just practice for a bit without the pressure of it being in a game situation, take shots and concentrate on getting your technique just right and get your confidence back up. Then you can start doing what you're good at in games again.

yh i play tons of basketball and helped volunteer coach for my volunteer hours. Well maybe ur technique has changed bc of ur growth spurt. In fact my coach always told us not to shoot 3s until we were strong enuff to shoot them properly.

My advice is practice! We do a thing called shooting doctor. Stand 1 feet away from hoop and with 1 hand only (other hand is behind ur back) shoot a perfect shoot with ur feet on the ground. A perfect shot would include creating a 90degree frame, following through with ur wrist dangling like ur reaching into a cookie jar. Every time u make a basket step back. Keep ur feet on the ground (ur heels can come up a lil). Once u get to the point where its too far and u need ur legs to help get the
ball to the basket, u can shoot 2 more shots using ur legs. Do this 5-10 times per day. Also shoot 100-1000 shots per day. PM me if u want any more advice. Good luck.
