You can edit, but it seems like that's only available for a certain amount of time after posting. That's what I've noticed so far, at least.

If you want the thread locked, I would suggest using the report button on the original post and writing that in the little box. I've been a moderator on forums before, and they can't read every single post so if you use the report button you can bring things to their attention faster. I don't know that they'll lock it, though, there's no real reason to other than that two people didn't say you were super hot and one disagreed with your eyebrows. *shrugs*
