Re: Democracy, Dictatorship (Autocracy) or Republic?
A Republic.
Why? Because there's law in place that neither the people nor the government can break without getting punished for it.
In a Democracy the people and the government directly influences each other, unlike with a Republic which goes through the law.
In a Dictatorship it's absolute control of the people and with that comes nothing positive.
Throughout history a Republic has proven to be the best form of Government for a nation, it's people, and the government.
A Democracy can also become a Dictatorship because the rights of the people can be more easily violated by the Government. It has before, learn some history to find out what.
Government is essentially a soul sucking power-hungry entity. All they care about is control, which is fine if you're the one in power but meanwhile the people suffer. Therefore the only logical one is a Republic as it preserve the rights of all people and the government.
Also in a Democracy can erupt Anarchy when the Government tries to take more power from the people. If the people had any sense at all they'd fight back.
Logic: Many people had it until someone came along, fucked it all up, manipulated the people... and from that came horrible things.

Since when!
Ever hear of a Benevolent Dictator? A.K.A ME!
Re: Democracy, Dictatorship (Autocracy) or Republic?
Since forever. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Stalin and Hitler to name more recent Dictators and I'd have to go look up names of the other because I can't remember all of them.
Dictators do what they want and take what they want without any care for the common folk.
They are in power, why should they listen to lesser people?
Go learn some real History and find out. I don't wanna have to go dig out all my books on Dictators just because you and your ignorant ass is too lazy to go look up things that actually happened. And are happening.
And no, no I haven't. And if you act the way you do now, and think the way you do now, if you ever got in charge. Well, let's just say I'd best be getting a bullet in your head pretty damn fast. Saving humanity from a fate worse than death.
Not that you'd ever realize how horrible things would be for everyone else, oh noooo - you'd believe yourself to be a saint until the day you die and everyone throws a party at the sheer joy of a controlling bastard's death.
But hey, you wanna believe you're above history and corruption then be my guest. I don't really care if you wanna be arrogant like that.

Re: Democracy, Dictatorship (Autocracy) or Republic?
Absolute power certainly doesn't corrupt absolutely. Whoever said that is in all aspects a complete dumbass. A subject like that is fully individual based and cannot have majority rule or general terms.
Don't call me ignorant either becuase I'm not. I've done research and there have been benevolent or great dictators. Ex: The five good Roman emperors, me, YOUR GODDAMN PARENTS ARE DICTATORS!
BTW I care for my fellow man and atleast I'm not dumb enough to give up on humanity because of simple things like pollution (which could easily be fixed under Dictatorship.) I have ideas they will benefit my nation but things like democracy or republican constitutions would only get in the way.
Last me ask you something to.
In a Republic: Constitutions or "Barriers" as I call them could be the very main factor in the propersity of a nation or state.
In Democracy: It's all mob rule leading to oppression of the minority. In a Democracy who can blame most of the nation. HOWEVER in a Dictatorship (Unless it's a Oligarchy Dictatorship) ONLY ONE PERSON IS TO BLAME! ONE AND ONLY ONE! So whose to say that the whole country can't rebel and try to remove him from office?
Also would you rather be ruled by a great, honest and honourable man or be oppressed (or be the opressor) in a Democracy or have barriers that could block a nation still.
I pick Dictatorship for that very reason you can after all can have freedom in a Dictatorship.
Re: Democracy, Dictatorship (Autocracy) or Republic?
I love reading Marietta's arguments. Fascinating reads.
Anyway, there is no such thing as a perfect govt. Never has been, never will be. True. It is THEORETICALLY possible to have a good dictator, but what happens when that one person dies? The odds are astronomical that the next ruler would act the same way.
Also, it is also possible to have ONE good man in charge. But everyone else in a position of power might not be so.. ah... altruistic. Being "good" shows weakness. He/she would be assassinated.
Republics/Democracy - It works... I guess. But without proper restrictions on govt. The quality of the state will go up and down depending on the majority in charge. Probably the best choice out of them all.
Marxism/socialism/whatever - BRILLIANT idea on paper. Does not work in practice. Dooms the state to inferiority. I.E North Korea, Vietnam. Well put together communism can work for a while (Just like a dictatorship) But it always fails.
Just my take. I like chaos myself. Every man for himself, not really govt. But you rule all of the lands you can hang on to. Not a very lasting way to do it, as eventually deals with be struck and countries will be founded.

Because that one person is in control of everything. Resources, military, money, etc. If I was a dictator first thing I'd do is take weapons away from the citizenry for "protection from dangerous criminals" so they can't shoot me. I'd ensure that the military have very good living conditions and have everything they need so if the citizenry rise up the military wouldn't either because they have a good life the way it is and no reason to try to jeopardize that especially if they have a family. I would have the military go out to stop the rebellion and since it'd be guns and bombs vs sticks and stones it would ensure that the rebels would never rise up again lest they get massacred again. Have gun control and the people can't stop you when you feel like doing whatever the hell you want because you have the weapons and not them.
A dictatorship would be the best form of government in the world if I'm the dictator, otherwise it is absolutely horrible. Democracy only works if the population is small enough for every person to have a voice in policy so having that as the form of government isn't effective. Socialism/Communism/Marxism would actually work if there were limitless resources and everyone was the same; it works in theory, but goes down the drain in practice. Anyone who is for Anarchy is a retard. Anarchy will inevitably lead to a form of government, most likely dictatorship and under Anarchy I could rape and kill your wife, kill you and cook you food to feed your children and then barter them off for a rock from the ground because, hey, it's Anarchy and I can do whatever I feel like. A Republic is the best form of government, though it isn't without its faults either. It has the benefits of a Democracy by having people indirectly vote on laws by electing representatives to be their voice. Though the representatives can be corrupt by the power, greed, and such like a dictator, the people can always vote the representative out and elect someone who would represent them. Nothing is perfect, but when it comes to government, a republic is best for a nation.
Re: Democracy, Dictatorship (Autocracy) or Republic?
I wouldn't remove weapons. Infact the first thing I'd do is remove the Long gun registry in Canada and allow Knives (Combat, Hunting [Also because with a knife there's more time to stop and react properly if it's not a mugger etc...]) in public as a use of self-defense.
I'd give criminals (depending on crime) the option of joining in the military for one year (then their CR would be wiped clean unless they wish to stay) or rehabilitation for a certain amount of time (Court decides [CR isn't wiped clean but CR says you took rehab for x amonut of time]) a dictator doesn't have to be in charge of everything he CAN but he doesn't HAVE to.
I would create the Autocratic Party of Canada and the first signs of tyranny will lead to removal of power and thrown in jail for "Abuse of Power."
Funny that Marietta hasn't replied I guess she's mad I kicked her ass from Texas to Taiwan !
I'd also legalize weed and tax it (renevue for economy) and create houses for the poor (built by government funds but maintained by a private corporation).
See I'm an autocrat and I just got maximum approval in my country. The only problem?
Protectist freaks that think guns are scary will think Autocracy is too because it's one with all.
