It's been a long time since I've made one of these huge appeals posts- since Christmas, I think. Anyways, myself and the rest of the staff have been discussing for a very long time on how to make Teen Forumz a more active, fun, and rewarding place to hang out on when you're in cyberspace.
Because the staff is so full of conflicting personalities (which, I happen to think is a good thing), we've been having a lot of discussions with a lot of dead ends. Which made me realize: Why leave the discussion just between the staff? Certainly, we've given you Member of the Month, the Music Competition, and other contests that haven't survived the test of time, I guess we've made a huge oversight: Never actually asking the people of Teen Forumz what they want.
So that led me to want to ask this question: What is something that you, the normal, active, member of Teen Forumz, have always wanted to see, or something that you would want to see be brought back? If you have your own proposals written up, awesome, we'd love to read them.
In your ideas, please make sure that, you know, they can actually happen. Nothing involving bringing back other members, or becoming a staff member, or something so ludicrous that it would just be impossible.
So, let's hear it Teen Forumz. We're excited to see what you guys come up with.
I'm a bit too new for this, I think, but what the hell, I'm just gonna put it in my two cents. (It's just one cent, actually.)
Make a forum for events and contests. Members will make events there. Events will bring some life into the forum, but instead of just being solely staff-operated, why not let users make some contests themselves? This worked great in this other forum I used to go to, it's just plain fun. You could make a locked hall of fame thread where a link each winner's user page is posted there so people can give them reps and stuff? (If the reps system is implemented.) Or we can give them a badge. If there's a badge system here.
I'm not saying go full-auto and let people run completely wild with insults and such, just loosen up a tiny bit and allow members a good ol' tiff every now and then. I can't count the number of times the tiniest little tiff has come up and the mods immediately swoop in and stamp it out (and in most cases, outright insults weren't even being thrown, it was simply petty stuff like "umad?") Teenagers and people in general are bound to have arguments and they can get carried away at times, but a good bit of honest snipping never hurt anyone. There's no need to run this place like a Sunday school.
Oh, and quit banning people you don't like, like Nabokov.

Do you think that the rules themselves aren't distinct enough, or the moderation itself basically overextends on the rules?
Oh, and we have reason to ban everyone. We're not privy to explaining why we banned them, thanks.

We have only one contest right now, which is yeah, staff operated (by me) - but when I started it, back in December, I was not staff.
Also, we can make (everybody) tournaments in arcade, it was pretty popular once, maybe we should try again.

The rules themselves need to allow a bit more leeway than they currently do. One of the biggest areas that comes to mind is debates and debates that turn into arguments. There is not as much of a distinction as there should be between poking fun at people and poking fun at beliefs. Beliefs don't have feelings or awareness. So to that end, there is a world of difference between me going into the Member Picture thread, quoting a photo and saying "Jesus fucking Christ you look hideous, lose some weight you giant whale," and saying "LMAO that's fucking retarded" to someone in reference to say, their train of logic or an article full of demonstrable inaccuracies posted as "proof" of their argument. Debates can quickly turn into arguments and get fairly heated, but the latter should be permitted as long as it doesn't develop further and turn into the former.
