Revising = studying? If not, sorry this will be entirely off topic.

Text books IMO are interesting, but i guess you could try to look at it in a new light. If you can write in your books highlight important facts [if you can't, underline 'em in pencil HAH] and stuffs. If you're easily distracted (like me o.O) turn OFF the phone/music/computer(unless you NEED the computer for something)

Um.. be comfortable. Go to the bathroom, eat something, all before so you're not distracted by "Gee, I'd really like a sammich right now" or "OMG I need to piss"

Good for you for wanting to get an edge here! I think the textbook idea is a good one, but is also a boring one. Textbooks work best when used in conjunction with a classroom experience and teaching. Otherwise, it's like one hand clapping.

The thing you want to work on is stuff like attention, concentration, retention, processing/understanding, etc. And for all that, something like pleasure reading, at a set time and for a set duration, with some thought afterwards about what you read. That will exercise the underlying abilities you need to maximize the 'learning' in more academic coursework you'll be starting in the autumn.

Take care of everything else you need to do first (or after you study, it doesn't really matter), that way you aren't distracted by something you need to do. Do this, read for 45 minutes. Do NOT get up to do something else, at that time, there is nothing but your book. After you've read for 45 minutes, review in your head what you read for 15 minutes. You may then take a 20 minute break and repeat. This is what I do and it works quite well for me.

Have you tried revision cards. You can get them from most stationary shops and it's like a tiny notebook. Highlight the important points in your text book then write these on the cards. This will cut your revision down from a huge book to a few cards and everything will be a lot easier to review. Also, the process of doing this will make it stick in your head too.
