Our beloved dog developed cancer when he was only 2 years old.
Our choice was to either put him out of his misery, or let him suffer even longer.
It sucked, but we put him down when his quality of life started suffering.
Can't argue about that being the right thing to do.
Then again, what's right for one person, isn't always right for another.

Like you said many people's choices are different for others. I love all my animals, but if I had gotten someone pregnant I wouldn't want it to be aborted, even if it's life would be horrible. I would try to make the best of it, so it's life isn't terrible. Looking into adoption isn't a bad idea, and it would be your choice to make, and your parents wouldn't be able to have a say into it, even though you are underage, you have the full rights over your child.
