Question Job...

Hey guys it's been a while but I had to get a new computer after mine crapped out. Anyways I've been trying to find a job ever since I got laid off late last year and haven't had any luck. I'm trying to find something I'll enjoy because I'm a strong believer in making the most of your life and that doesn't include flipping burgers all day for me. (no offense to anyone who does that ). So I'm pretty big into electronics and tend to know alot about computers, computer software, video games, etc. So that pointed me to the direction of Best Buy. So I just went to their website and applied as a Computer/Video Games Sales Associate. Since it's online (which I've never had to do before) application should I still call my local Best Buy to follow up on it? This is a job I think I'd truly enjoy and I really need a job until I leave for bootcamp. If I should call how long should I wait? A week? 2 weeks? etc. And when/if I call what are some things I should say to show I'm genuinely interested in this job? Thanks for any help!

Have you done research on what a Computer/Video Games Sales Associate does?

I would give it a week and call them to follow up. The practice in my store (granted its not a BestBuy) is that if an applicant calls in - while we don't necessarily set up an interview right then and there... It does bring their application to the top of the list in terms of looking it over and the possibility of an interview.

Its been my experience that by calling and showing interest in the job you've already shown you want the job. Be honest and show enthusiasm for the job when you talk to them.

in my experience, you really don't need to/should wait to call. i called as soon as i applied and got the job. so i would definitely call to let them know that you've applied and that you're interested.
