Why do girls get mad when you say a girl is prettier than them?
Recently I was asked if I thought a girl I've known for a while is pretty and I told her I thought she was attractive but she was no comparison to the other girl that was with us at the time.
She took that as me calling her ugly which confused the hell of me because that wasn't my intention and because I had no idea how she could come to that conclusion when I already told her before I thought she was pretty. I was just saying the other girl was prettier.
Is this a girl thing? Are us guys expected to ALWAYS flatter a girl even if it's not true?

I think the "but she was no comparison to the other girl that was with us at the time" wasn't necessary. Afterall, the other girl mentionned was there and so she probably felt humiliated and hurt. Girls are a lot more competitive between them than boys are, so watch out. That was a looooooow blow haha :p
Telling things that 'are not necessarily true' is not the solution, since you wouldn't be honest and girls might kind of... feel it. Plus, well, lies are never a good way.

Not the kinda thing a girl wants to hear.
I don't think the "no comparison to the other girl" was necessary, she probably felt hurt and embarrassed because the other girl was present at the time.

Lets just say if you had said that to me, you would have received a slap....Totally uncalled for.
Like the girls before me have said, I would have felt ashamed, hurt, embarrassed and of very low self esteem, and probably would have got up and walked away.
Please remember we girls are normally constantly comparing ourselves with others....We simply can't help it, it is just a female thing.
I do hope this will be of help to you in the future.....I believe you may have escaped rather lightly this time.

Like GoldenGirl said, I would have slapped you. then probably kicked you in the nuts.
I have self esteem problems horribly to begin with, but even still, who the hell on any subject especailly one so sensitive, want to be number two like that? It's basically saying you'd bang the other chick but not her, cause she's better, and most always someone will pick better. But yeah, it just hurts us a lot, so keep it to yourself lol.
