Okay, this sounds lame but I'm getting a harry Potter tattoo for my birthday.I don't want it to be like, "BAM" Harry Potter, I just want it to subtly reference it so that only people who are really familiar with the books will know what it's referencing, yah know?

SO NO CHARACTER PORTRAITS AND SHIT.
I also don't really want a quote unless it's worked into another picture thing in a really awesome way.

I want it to be a harry potter reference because IMO, HP is the best written series of my generation and I have followed it for about 11 years and am confident that it will continue to be my absolute favorite series for many years to come. Screw Dora and Spongebob. My kids are going to grow up with Potter.

Anyway, these are my ideas thus far, opinions on them or suggestions of your own are appreciated.

1.This Phoenix(although with a different head);

The placement would likely be around my right shoulder blade-on top of my shoulder/upper arm area, depending on how big/elaborate it gets.
Also possible to include the quote, "it is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities."


2. A feather quill like this(but a bit smaller)

It would probably go on the side/front of my thigh and sort of flow with line of the quad muscle there, or on my ribcage/wrap around the one side of my boob.

Get the feather right under your boob, sort of wrapping around it like you said. I'd get the phoenix one as well, from the ribcage down to your thigh

I've been moreso leaning towards the phoenix, simply because I feel it represents the symbolism a bit better than the feather quill, but I definitley never want another large tattoo on my ribcage lmao. Shit hurts like a bitch, hence why the feather quill would be smaller if its there xD

However if someone has other suggestions,I'd definitely love to hear them.I'm going to draw the tattoo out myself so I could incorporate a few things.

What u said would be sexy as fuck lol. I would get it above the waist (ribcage, boob like u said) unless u already have tats below the waist just bc idk if u want visible tats below the waist if u were to wear a bikini or dress. Idk maybe u do tho???

Ol again, never gonna do another big tattoo on my ribcage unless I just smoke an ounce of pot beforehand. I'm not really a big dress girl though, so no worries there. The only time I wear them is if I'm trying to look sexy, in which the tattoo will just add to that. The only major requirements though is that it can't be visible in a short sleeved tshirt and pants. It has to be hidden while I work. I think I will likely do the phoenix though. Opinions on whether I should add the quote?

It's a good quote, whether u think u need it or not is up to u. U can always add it later of course. Will the phoenix fit on ur shoulder/upper arm? Obv depends how big u want it. I personally think u should go big (go big or not at all lol). Especially since u have the big feather, it would really look good on ur side/ribcage/boobage are. Especially since its kind of a curvy pic of the phoenix to put it in that area would look damn hot imo. But price and pain are factors too.

Well, I change the position of the phoenix a little bit so it fits easily on the back and top of my shoulder and the upper part of my arm. I might wait for the quote though. See how the phoenix looks alone first.

I much prefer the feather. Personally I Wuldn't want a tattoo based around HP, but its your body and if ou feel it means something - then go with what YOU want!
