Male

Age:
15

Race:
Panethnic (Arab)-Caucasian (Italian)

Present Grade Level:
year 11 (Grade 10)

Do you live in a rural or urban community?
Suburban

How would you define bullying?
Verbal, mental, and physical abuse directed towards an individual

Who do you believe is most likely to be bullied?
Social outcasts, people who are thought to be weak and defenseless, and just about everybody really in some form or another.

Why?
It makes the bully feel superior and better about themselves

Have you ever been aware that someone was being bullied?
Yes, many times

If yes, what happened?
It's happened lots of times. Some left our school due to excessive bullying. Some became rejected by social groups in school and have become loners. Others ended in friendship. And sometimes the bullied individual fought back and came out on top.

Did you do something when you knew this person was being bullied?
I have gotten involved a few times in the past. Though I prefer not to get involved much now.

If yes, what did you do? If not, what stopped you?
I've always defended the person being bullied, whether or not it might have negative effects on my social life and/or led to me being hurt.

What do you think should be done when someone is being bullied?
They should inform a superior who is well aware of the problems bullying comes with and doesn't just say something like I'll "Keep an eye on them" and then do nothing. Those people are fucking idiots and don't deserve to be in such positions.
Either that; or fight back
Ignoring works sometimes, but most of the time it doesn't. So it's almost useless

What would you like everyone to know about bullying and how to address it?
Answered above? Unnecessary question.

Female: Male:

Female.

Age: 14

Race: Caucasian, British.

Present Grade Level:

Attending college.

Do you live in a rural or urban community?

Suburban

How would you define bullying?

Someone causing mental and/or physical harm, Using abusive language/actions to hurt the individual.

Who do you believe is most likely to be bullied?

Anyone can be bullied but usually it is people who don't "Fit in with the crowd".
People who can sometimes come across as nervous, with little confidence in themselves.

Why?

Because in the bullies' perception, they may not look the same as most others, whether that is their choice or not, they may not act like most others or they may not like them in general.
It give the bully a sense of power and control.

Have you ever been aware that someone was being bullied?

Yes I have.

If yes, what happened?

Action against it was taken and she told someone about it. The bullies' were charged with assault. She has not been targeted by those people since.

Did you do something when you knew this person was being bullied?

Yes.

If yes, what did you do? If not, what stopped you?

I advised her to tell her parents and helped her through it.

What do you think should be done when someone is being bullied?

If it is serious, the Police should be contacted.
The person being bullied should tell someone such as his/her parents or a teacher and see what can be done to stop it.
If it's mild, simply ignoring them can work, but sometimes it doesn't, so if it gets worse, someone such as the above should be notified.
If it comes to the worst, fight back. You shouldn't allow yourself to be assaulted and hurt, fight back in order to stop it.

What would you like everyone to know about how about bullying and how to address it?

I have pretty much already answered that question above.
Just remember that it's not your fault.

Don't let them make you feel terrible about yourself, and tell someone who can help. He/She will give you the support to get through it and make the bullying stop.

How would you define bullying?
Hurting someone and making them feel bad about themselves mentally or physically

Who do you believe is most likely to be bullied?
Anyone could really. But people who are quiet or shy as they are easier to target I guess.

Why?
Because people believe they won't stand up for themselves or tell anyone

Have you ever been aware that someone was being bullied?
Yeah

If yes, what happened?
Me and my mate was walking home and these 2 boys were waiting at the end of the road for another boy and they were laughing at him. So me and my friend said to the 2 boys 'Don't be so mean'. We carried on home though... I've seen it times before aswell. Usually name-calling or laughing at people.

Did you do something when you knew this person was being bullied?
Kinda. I said before. But thats all I've ever done really...

If yes, what did you do? If not, what stopped you?

It should get sorted out and the bullies should get punished
