Is it such a bad thing to pay a friend in gas money to hang out?
So I have a friend who lives further away from my group of friends. And she asks to hang out, and it's not usually a problem if it's convenient for both parties involved.
However the main problem is she lives further away and it's quite a drive to go see her. So when the idea of having to pay us for the gas money she flipped out and started venting saying "I shouldn't have to pay you guys to come hang out"
and I'm left thinking to myself "well what do you expect when you move further away you're going to have to start thinking about the possibly of having to support the gas it takes to get to where she is." But at the same time I'm thinking is it really that bad to have to pay for someones gas fare to come hang out?
Thoughts?
P.S. I apologize if this sounds weird, I'm tired and I may not have worded my question properly.

I personally wouldn't pay for someones gas so they could come see me....
I think its a bit harsh in my opinion you asking her to pay, if you want to spend time with her then deal with it, its like if she came to see you would you pay for her to get to yours?

I don't think it's thatttt weird. I mean she's the one asking you guys to hang out more, she needs to understand shes gonna have to help pay, or see you guys less. If you guys just straight out said we need money to come over, then it'd be a little weird.. however, sometimes you guys should also pay her to come see you. It's gotta be a balance both ways.

I think you guys could split it. Like, when she comes to visit you, you pay for a chunk.

If she asks you to come over, split it. If you ask to go over and she agrees, you pay for the whole thing. Simple
