So Im just a regular guy that can play basketball, but the problem is that I'm really good, like really really really good. I used to play for my high school team but this year I decided that I wasn't going to play and get an academic scholarship. Now it's like every one is trippin off me not playin anymore and it's changing my popularity and all that. The big problem is that my brother plays for a bigtime college and everyone admires him, and I don't know but I guess my dad is somewhat pissed that I'm not playing anymore and could've been just like him. Ohhh and another problem is that now I kindof miss playing basketball now but it's too late. I guess I'm just tired of being stuck at the house and ppl calling me sorry because they think I had given up. What do I do now

i guess there's nothing wrong with you. maybe you just being little bit jealousy with your brother. about your dad, i don't know what's wrong with him. i think he's feeling disappointed because you don't play basketball anymore. btw, being popular in school is not really necessary.. if you think you're really really good, i suggest you to continue playing basketball who knows you might go further.

It's time someone stick up for themselves. Make your own decisions. If you feel like you need better grades, then go for it. Who cares what people think of you. It's not like you gave up basketball FOREVER.. people are just trippin.

If you stop an athletic activity to acquire intelligence, which is not as admired as basketball or other athletic endeavors, then you will be judged, and people will think less of you.

Although, in reality, it's quite the opposite. You'll be better off than all those who start criticize you.

If you Dream is to become a professorial basketball player then dont give up your dream.
do what you want to do > what makes you happy in future life. However, if this dream can not be achieved. try and find something else that maybe might be better for you

I see that you're 16? I say take this year off, don't worry about, and play next year! Focus on your grades now and who knows, maybe you'll find some ways to better manage your time so that you can keep your grades where you want them when you do start playing again!

You're only sixteen, you have plenty of time to take basketball again and school is really important right now. Getting good grades will only add to advantages once you start playing basketball again. You have all the time in the world to sort yourself out but school is best done now, not later

If you like basketball, I'd continue it. If you don't want to play basketball, don't play it. Don't worry about the consequences- just decide whether you want to play or not. Everything else will fall into place the way its supposed to.
