Default Educational crisis.

If you're from the UK I need not tell you the importance of a sixth form and the influence of a sixth on your university, especially if you want to study medicine at Cambridge/Oxford.

I applied to one sixth form which just felt like the one for me. The only problem was the fees. After an extrance exam and interview I was rejected on the basis of not being able to pay the fees without aid, I don't think my Mum knows why I was rejected and I don't plan on telling her, needless to say, she's depressed. The worst thing about it is that besides a few local schools with terrible records, there's nowhere else I can go. I might sound like an arrogant prick but rejection is not something I'm used to in terms of academics, I know that and so does my mum which just makes matters worse.

Normally this wouldn't bring me down but I guess I've got a bit going on right now, plus with exams (GCSEs) lurking around the corner in two months my confidence is starting to crack, I guess I need to bore to someone by venting.

Either way, what would you do in my situation?

I am guessing a sixth form is like the final year(s) of high school? It really sucks when the only thing keeping you from excelling is money. I am a little concerned myself on that matter in the case of university.

I think your best option may be looking at some further away schools and staying with a relative or at a boarding school. A boarding school would remove some of the distractions of normal homes allowing for more efficient study too.

Otherwise, afraid I am not sure :/

you could look for a collage or something similar that has a good rep
some of my mate did and they love it
it's perhaps not as prestigious as A-levels but the courses are generally well respected ones

This is odd, my sixth form is funded by local government.

Do A-Levels at college.

College is a better stepping stone to life at university than sixth form will ever be.

I'll be going into 6th form next september, I think you should apply to college to be honest. After having a good look at what 6th form has to offer, college looks better.
