So I was hanging with a female friend the other day and a little ways into the day she random said " You didn't even tell me I looked good today." this threw me off because I've told her countless times she always looks fine and I responded well yeah of course you look good. What am I just supposed to tell her she looks good everytime I see her?

I'm wondering if this is a girl thing. Do girls expect a guy who they're hanging out with to compliment them on their appearances even if they're well aware that the guy thinks they're attractive already? What's more why would it matter if I compliment a girl who I've already complimented before in the past?

Plus if you compliment a girl too much wouldn't that just boost up their ego too high and wouldn't that just be a bad thing???

I can't stand girls that do this, i refer to it as 'fishing for compliments'. They say something along the lines of 'god i look ugly today' just hoping that someone will say 'no you look amazing'. I hate it and whenever i hear it i always agree just because i know what they are doing. I know that some girls have low self esteem but asking for compliments and needing that reassurence just gets annoying and comes off as needy.

Girls can be worried about their looks, but telling a guy that they haven't complimented you today and being annoyed at them for it? Compliment fishing.

But this sound a bit attention seeking to me. Asking outright for compliments seems like she just wants someone to tell her she looks good. Honestly though I don't see the point...making people say it doesn't really count for much?

Although in defence I will say that when a girl has gone to a lot of effort to really look her best, it is always so nice to receive a compliment.
