I'm 16, in 10th grade. I'm homeschooled (although I used to go to public school in elementary school) and I'm not sure if I should go to public high school for my last two years. On one hand I want to play sports and meet other people (I only have about 3 or 4 people I would consider close friends), but at the same time I don't really look forward to sitting in a classroom 6 hours a day.

Any advice? Anyone else ever been in this situation?

Never been in that situation, but I would say go for it.
It will take sometime to get used to sitting in the class but trust me some days it's just really fun and you get to meet a lot of new people and make great friends.
It's a part and an experience of life that you wouldn't wanna miss.

As for the choice, i never had to make it myself, but i'd go for public school. You need to socialize with new people once and a while. Get friends and stuff.

Having done both I personally say stick with Homeschooling. Public school is hell.

If you wanna socialize there are probably some homeschooling programs/meet-ups you can go to.
Or you can try a community center for sports and meeting people. People I live close to who've been homeschooled their whole lives do that, I think one is gonna try out for some sports teams when they open back up again while the other kids do more artsy things at the center.

I'm just saying you don't have to go to public school to play sports or meet new people is all.

I hate public school... I've been begging my parents for years to homeschool me. If I were you I would just go back for senior year-prom and senior stuff, ya know?

Hey everybody it's me the guy who made the topic. I forgot my password so I made a new account :p

Thanks everyone for your opinion (and no I'm definitely not rich, haha). This is a tough decision so I would like to hear as many opinions as possible. Also something interesting I noticed is the girls are saying don't go to school and the guys are saying to go.. It probably isn't anything just an observation

Check out the school you'll be going to (if you decide to go) and talk to people who have been there before, just to get a feel for the atmosphere and if the teachers are generally cool or generally douche-nozzles. If it's the latter then stay homeschooled. Shitty teachers are really the main reason school sucks, in my experience.

Though i've never been home-schooled i'ld say go to public school. It would be a great opportunity to make some friends and socialize with more people your age. It would also be good to develop interest outside your subjects and try new things. I think you can gain so much from public school, even though you'll have to sit in classroom for hours It can't hurt to at least give it a go!

If you are ready for a completely different life and ready to face whatever problems and difficulties you would face then you should go...shifting from one life style to another isn't so easy..but if you really want to..and you feel that you're ready to handle any difficulties..then you should go!!
btw in spite of everything public schools are much more fun..u can make great friends, also being amongst ppl would make you ready for college life later on..

Public schools are generally where you make your connections with people. And I think it's a better chance for college too. I'm not sure how homeschooling works, but there are a lot of resources as far as getting into college in public schools. School counselors and different teachers who can give you ideas on things. I love having all the options I have by being in a big public school. And I like having something to do for all that time. I don't feel like I'm wasting the day. Plus I'm in a lot of school programs and clubs, which also looks good for college. There's just so many benefits to public schools. Plus you meet more people and expand your social life to just those few close friends you have to a lot more. Not all of them will be close, but you'll have more people you can call friends.

But as has been said, it gonna be a big change. But I love it. I know people who were home schooled, and I'm sure I'd prefer staying where I am now in comparison. You could always visit a high school and see what it's like before making a decision of course. Kinda like visiting a college. Try doing that and see what it's like.
