Of course It's okay. I do it quite a bit, actually. However, I would add that movies are, by nature, social events. Even if you go alone to see a film, you still interact with the other audience members because you do share reactions and stuff like that. Going to see a movie at a theater is very very different than seeing one at home when you are alone. Without getting into complex film theory, some say the most important aspect of a film is the viewers shared reaction and interaction with that reaction. The negotiation of the terms the film is set on is also a shared communal type thing.

Besides, its a movie.

Do you really see this conversation happening?

Random person 1: This is an excellent movie. Do you like it?

Random person 2: yes, but see that person in the front all alone? LOL lets judge him for 2 hours.

You: Forever alone.

Do what you like my friend don't let things like this worry you and even if someone calls you a loser thats an opinion and not a fact so take it in then let it go. Most likely if anyone was to call you a loser they are just idiots and well i would rather be a loser who had the confidence to go see a movie on there own then a rude idiot who needs to learn some manners.

I don't think anyone is going to give you looks for attending a movie alone.

I'd go on my own. Who gives a fuck, you're only sitting in a dark room anyway, i doubt anyone will know or even notice.

I used to be in disbelief when i first heard kids went to see movies alone. To me movies always was social. i would rather see a bad movie with friends than a great movie alone (especially since I can wait for movies on netflix or whatever if nobody wants to see movies i like). But like a year ago I saw a movie alone and liked it. It's especially fun to see like a brainy artsy movie alone on a matineee. Still seeing a horror or comedy with friends opening weekend in a crowded threatre is the best.
