I've already posted something similar to what i'm about to talk about now, but i just wanna add something to it...
I had unprotected sex on the 22nd July and my next period isn't due untill the 20th August. Surely i'd be able to take a pregnancy test now?!

Why would they refuse you a pregnancy test? If you are worried enough than go ahead, I hope you aren't thinking about an abortion though, unlike many people I know what an abortion looks like, and its not a pretty site.

Nobody has refused me of a pregnancy test, i've just been told that you have to wait untill you have a missed period, but that would mean that i'd of been waiting a month :-/ .. Noooo i would never have an abortion!

yeah you are supposed to wait, simply because your hormone level needed to detect pregnancy will not be high enough to be recognised before hand, just hang in only 9 more days!
