Poll Posticon What do you think about child leashes?

What are your opinions on leashes/tethers for children? Is one type better than another - backpack, harness, wrist to wrist?

i have seen people using them. i dont think i would want to use one. unless i were in a very crowded place. i would rather use a stroller.

Actually, I think they're a great idea as long as your kid is able to walk on its own. xD

It just provides a good connection between parent and child and makes it less likely that they'll be able to wander off/get taken, especially in a crowded place or on a beach where they could wander too near the water.

That said, it's in no way a substitute for a watchful eye.

I don't like the wrist ones. I see children getting dragged all over with those one.

But the others are ok with me. The child is usually in front of the adult with those, hich i prefer.

It's good for children to be in the parent's vision and control. But, if it's on their neck or something, it's something I look at being slavery, I guess you could say. Doesn't look good.

Despite its hilarity, I do regard child leashes as a form of dehumanization, as you're putting a collar on a child and toting them around like a dog. But that's just my opinion.

I must say I don't think I've ever seen a leash/tether that actually goes around a child's neck - in real life or photos or ads. People really have those?

I used to not like them and said I would never use them if I had children. If they wanted to run off I would just stick them in a stoller or something. But, children are unpredictable. If they don't want to be in a stroller they will scream and cry and if they don't want to hold hands they will wrestle their way away. I guess in certain circumstances I believe they're acceptable (when not abused) and it's no substitute for supervision, but I still haven't decided if I would use them personally.

no, they dont have ones that go around the neck. that is just wrong and harmful. because what if the child runs? it is going to get choked. -_-

they come in backpacks, wrist straps, you can get a buddy loop (i think that is what it is called, that is what i call it) where the child holds onto the loop and so do you (kinda like holding hands). i think there is one that is like a belt (??? idk)

I think super super busy places like NYC maybe, anywhere else.. just ridiculous. Anyone ever actually hear of the thing teaching your kid to not run away and listen..? They're just another excuse for kids to not be taught and get away with crap. If the kid knows you put him on a leash so he doesn't run, what do you think he's going to do the times he's NOT on it..?

From joy to sorrow, yesterday to tomorrow, you've been there. Friends like you are rare, your touch is so gentle,
You're my guardian angel.
Like a blossoming flower spreading your wings in grace, filling my heart with power
by feeling your embrace.

Wherever the wind may blow, we will overcome this war, in times happy or sore, I will never let you go.
With a gentle warm heart and a will of stone, We'll never be apart, You'll never be alone. - John <3
