So on Wednesday (3 days ago), my girlfriend and I had unprotected sex in the hot tub but I pulled out before I came. Friday (1 day ago), my girlfriend found out she missed a birth control pill someday in her cycle. She doesn't know when it was, whether it was recent or in the beginning of her cycle. She's been taking it for about a month regularly. To be safe, we decided to go to the local CVS Pharmacy and pick up the Next Choice emergency contraceptive. She took one pill at 1pm today and is planning on taking the second pill here at 1am. (12 hours later). We're still very scared about getting pregnant even after taking the Next Choice 3 days after having sex. What's her chances of getting pregnant after me withdrawing, her only missing one pill, and her taking the emergency contraception 3 days after sex? We're still very worried!!
Re: Worried! - Chances of Girlfriend Being Pregnant?
you pulled out, but there is still that chance. yes, people can get pregnant while in a hot tub. also, it can depend when she missed her bc pill. if she missed it at the beginning (say she was at the end of a pack) yes, it can fail because she did miss it, but it would have a lower chance of failing than if she missed the pill a couple days before sex (if any of that makes sense.) the farther away from the time you have sex to take the emergency contraceptive, the less it will work. if you are still worried, in about 2 weeks, have her take a home pregnancy test.
thanks man, I know that the chances are small but i feel like it'd be my luck for her to get pregnant. hopefully she'll get her period but a late or even missed period after taking emergency contraception is not uncommon. that also unsettles my nerves.
Re: Worried! - Chances of Girlfriend Being Pregnant?
thanks for the quick reply. unfortunately for me, my girlfriend has a bad memory so she doesn't have a clue when she missed it. but my mom told me that missing one day won't mess up her hormone pattern if she's been taking it for a month. (i know, i told my mom, we have a good relationship so I felt comfortable enough to share my sex life with her)
Re: Worried! - Chances of Girlfriend Being Pregnant?
Hi there,
As Zach and Nicole have stated. There are small chances of your girlfriend becoming pregnant. You may wish to have her take a pregnancy test home with her.
Unprotected sex is not a good thing. Let this be a lesson to be learned so you guys can avoid this situation of being worried. You can try using a condom and or birth control to ensure safety.
I'm not pushing your beliefs, but if you wish to have unprotected sex - no one can stop you. You have to decide for yourself if you want to have a baby.
However, regarding your question - I believe you will be safe if you take a pregnancy test. If it comes out as pregnancy, I recommend her checking with her doctor to verify it. Most pregnancy tests are accurate, some aren't. I recommend a brand name that is popular and trusted.
Re: Worried! - Chances of Girlfriend Being Pregnant?
I agree with David. If you are still worried, have her take a pregnancy test to just be accurate and aware of it. Just make sure to be careful next time when it comes to protecting yourselves.
And yes, do get a brand that will be most accurate and trusted just to be on the safe side.
Re: Worried! - Chances of Girlfriend Being Pregnant?
Unprotected sex, whether you pull out or not, can still get her pregnant. Pre-Cum is powerful stuff. It directly gets its energy from Ra, the Sun God. Therefore giving it the power to impregnate. That's science for you.
As for her missing the pill, get her an alarm or something. *Ping!* Time to take possibly the most important pill of my life so I don't get pregnant and ruin the rest of my life because boy, these things are so hard to remember!
Re: Worried! - Chances of Girlfriend Being Pregnant?
Any time you have sex, no matter what you do you always have the chance of a pregnancy.
Buttttt, with all that you did you have a small chance.
Just keep an eye on her and how things go, and if you are still worried just take her into the doctors or simply just buy a test.
