That's because you're only seeing it in simple black and white, every baby is different and yours will have their own quirks and problems and things you have to over come with them with, and things they're special for. in black and white it's just to help cause once your a mom there's a lot of things you worry about or wonder about even if you're very experienced with children. It's just good to have a basic black and white over look on children so when they do have things you need to look out for and know of, you know of them and what to do and what stages it should be happening. But every baby is different, so different, they all act differently, smile differently, like different things, etc.

I can see where you're coming from as dogs and other pets are the same way, however I can honestly say that raising my first dog was much more enjoyable because I didn't know what to expect so it was more of a challenge. I love my current dog,he's wonderful, dont get me wrong; but that element of surprise is gone, it's more of a "well, now that he's 8 months old, he's going to start to become more resistant to listening to commands so we'll have to really reinforce his behaviour."

They obviously all have different personalities and everything, but I just feel so much less excited about the idea of kids now after having done that module in school.
