Default Addiction to smoking

Over the past month the frequency in which I smoke has increased. I'm not a heavy smoker; I smoke about once a day although I haven't smoked since Friday as I'm trying to quite, it's quite hard however.
I'm wondering though, do you think the so called "Addiction" could be just the desire to inhale and exhale smoke. I usually find smoking most effective when I've had a bad day and it just feels like I'm exhaling all my problems. Or is the nicotine an actual factor.
Also if anyone has any tips on quitting that would be appreciated.

It's the nicotine that's addictive.

Honestly speaking, you've already made the decision to quit. All the rest is up to you.
You wanna quit? Then quit. You made up your mind, now do so.
Sorry but it's not like there's a bunch we can do to help.

So just throw away all your smokes and don't buy anymore. Find something else to distract you from it even.

Or you can try smoking something without nicotine in it. Tobacco itself isn't that addictive, it's still bad for you though.

^This.

It's not a 'so called' addiction, it is one. And, you're addicted very quickly.

Either you reduce .. or either you just quit. no one said its easy , but we are perfectly capable of doing it . I think nowadays you have those special chewing gums or medical sticks which they say that replaces your will of smoke . i personally dont like it , but you should try.
