Re: Losing Stomach Fat
If you want to lose weight, here's a quote from the "Fitness and Lifestyle Management for Law Enforcement, 3rd edition, by Nancy Wagner Wisotzki" Pages 136-137 under the Nutrition and Body Composition chapter, sub-section titled Maintaining a Healthy weight: "A person's weight is the result of many factors, including height, genes, metabolism, behaviour, and environment. It is important that you learn how to balance your energy in (calorie intake) with your energy out (exercise). For many people, maintaining this balance means consuming fewer calories and exercising more. In addition to making healthy food choices that are lower in fats (especially saturated and trans fatty acids), cholesterol, added sugars, and salt, you need to pay attention to portion sizes...If you are overweight or obese, simply losing as little as 10 percent of your current weight can lower your risks for high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, type two diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, ect. It is reasonable and safe to lose one-half to one kilogram per week (1 kilogram = 2.2 pounds). Losing more per week puts you at risk for gaining the weight back. Along with making healthier eating choices, you have to make a commitment to increase your physical activity level. This involves a change in behaviour that will eventually become routine. Although weight-loss medication and weight-loss surgery may be options for a small percentage of the population, for most people, changing eating habits and becoming active are key results for weight loss."
