Default Piercing advice!

Okay so i'd never had a piercing in my life up until a week ago. I have however always wanted my nipple pierced. So last week on holiday with the boys - I went to go get it done, went to a Spanish tattoo and piercing shop and got it done.

OUCH.

Right through the nipple, anyway in my haste to get out and get a pint to recover as I felt so weak, I totally forgot to get any cleaning advice etc. I literally got up and walked out.

Ive scanned the internet and found salt and boiling water soaking it and then tissue to get rid of the excess matter to be effective and good for the healing process - yet I went to a piercing shop at home to get a new ball for the end as I lost one and his advice was cleaning solution - something the internet tells you not to use! In the meantime I have been using salt water and tissue.

Hopefully I would like somebody to reply who has their nipple pierced too so I can speak with them, as I guess different piercings require different cleansing processes. I might be putting salt on my nipple, but I bet my other friend isnt dipping his foreskin in boiling hot water and salt...

Sorry if this is a bit tl;dr but I do hope somebody has the time to respond, thanks.

last month i got my hips, belly and tongue pierced. they hardly hurt at all
the guy that did my piercings said:
tongue- use mouthwash 4 times a day
belly button and hips- antiseptic spray and use a cotton bud to go around it so you can make sure it's all clean. it could be the same for you nipple? it shouldnt harm it, it if you do use some antiseptic spray because it just cleans it. x

I think salt water an tissue is the best really. Its natural without any chemical crap in. Keep it up and when bathing/showering/washing your hair be sure to rinse your nipples well!

I have my hip done twice, my belly, and my ears done twice.. Also have a breast cancer ribbon tattoo on my neck.. Best thing to use is salt and warm water.. Although the same person did all mine and all he adviced were to soak in the bath and just make sure they were dried properly.. Avnt had problems with any of them..
I also have a friend that had her nipple done when i went for my tattoo and she were adviced the same thing and hers turned out fine

That all helps so much thanks guys, ive been like using warm/hot salt water with cotton buds then drying with a tissue now twice a day, sometimes one as I don't wanna overclean it. Seems to be working nicely.

I don't have my nipple pierced, but I do have two lobe piercings and two cartilage piercings in my ears.

Honestly you can't go wrong with salt and water (and truthfully if it is boiled or not isn't going to make much of a difference, so why not use unboiled water and spare yourself some pain ) Salt and water is very effective.

I've found cleaning solutions to work too and honestly cant see any reason why there'd be problem using that on a nipple piercing. Salt and water is cheap and probably equally as effective!

What's the healing time for a nipple piercing? I can only imagine how sore the first couple of weeks are when putting on and taking off tshirts /

Hey bro! The boiling water is just to help the salt dissolve. It dissolves
much faster in hot water. Just wait for it too cool down and then soak
a tissue in it and just hold it there for 30mins. Just be sure not to remove
it as it can make it much worse. Because it is soo close to your heart
you really need to be careful with infections.

I'm glad it's going well

Saline is a nice alternative as well. It's cheap and it saves you from having to boil water every time. I used that when I got my nose pierced last year and it worked nicely.

I mist warn you, though, that no matter how clean the piercing is kept, there's still a chance of infection. Be careful!
