Default Lose weight - easy peasy!

So I saw a lot of people (myself included) want to lose weight in 2012

I used to work in a gym when I was younger and studied health at university so I thought I would post what I think are/is the easiest and most effective tips I have tried and know of

So to start off, you need to look really hard at your diet

Lessening your calorie intake is the most important and effective way to lose weight (this is not to say to restrict your food intake in an unhealthy way but the average person can cut out 7000 calories per week out of their diet)

My current diet per day includes;

2x meal replacement shakes (the ones that still look after your nutrition!)

2-6 Healthy-mid healthy snacks

1x proper full meal (adult sized)

That seems to be working really well for me so far (my goal is to lose 5-10kg)

And this works out a lot cheaper than how I was eating before!

Of course you can always allow for chocolate and take-out but try to restrict that by half what the frequency you had before

The next most important thing you need to look at, believe it or not, is your stress levels

Make sure you are taking time out everyday for yourself and allowing yourself to de-stress from the stresses of the day

This can include listening to music, going for a walk or doing one of your other favourite activities

If you stress a lot and have a lot of toxins built up in your system, try to get a massage in your problem areas (mine are my shoulders) as often as you can (maybe ask your partner or even do it yourself)

Releasing these toxins wil help your body feel more relaxed and being happy is an important part of losing weight

The third most important thing is exercise

Try to do at least 20 minutes a day, whether it be going for a walk, doing some housework or getting on a bike!

I suggest at least 45 minutes to an hour per day for those seriously looking to lose weight above 10kg or more

It sounds really simple, and it is!

The only hard part is sticking at it so try keep a daily diary of food intake and exercise

Your motivation is this - you will look good and feel better!

Happy 2012 everyone

Most important tip of all: stop eating so much.

Well, your 3 meals a day is what you should be eating with a desert or treat every once in a while if you want to be on an effective diet.

Good tips

The only one I don't agree with is allowing yourself take out.

Studies have shown that even just ONE meal from a place like McDonalds causes a completely healthy person's blood pressure to spike almost dangerously high temporarily.
IMO, if someone is serious about losing weight, it has to be a lifestyle change and there are much better, healthier and even yummier alternatives to take out.
Also, people are better off with 5 small meals through the day, not just a couple snacks and one meal. or 3 big meals and no snacks.

It can sometimes entirely depend on the person's metabolism

As I said that's just what I found effective for me

It's not actually true about take out

A university professor ate nothing but twinkies and he lost 27 pounds

It's all about calorie counting

No, It's all about being healthy, which is usually the premise of losing weight; to get healthy.

Sure, twinkies and shit might make you lose weight if you eat nothing but, but they have no nutritional value and ultimately are completely unhealthy.

One could state that Anoexia and Bulemia make you lose weight bcause you're eating either very little or throwing up all those calories; therefore that is all that matters?lmfao. No; and that is using the same logic that you are using with the Twinkies.

If someone wanted to gain weight, does that mean they should follow the Supersize Me Mcdonalds Diet that nearly killed the guy who did it? Afterall, they are consuming large amounts of calories, no? They should consume healthy foods in healthy amounts and do healthy amounts of exercise because certain nutritional factors will help you gain weight in a healthy way, such as protein.

Simply because something works, does not mean it's healthy and should be followed.
As well, do you really want to spend the rest of your life counting calories?
Is it not better just to make a permanent lifestyle change that's easy to live with?

EDIT: Also, you mention nothing about drinking water.
By drinking the recommended 8, 8oz glasses of water every day, you can shed several pounds in the first week of water weight because you're getting the daily amount of water that your body needs so it doesn't have to hold onto it as body weight. It also helps fill you up if you drink a glass before eating so you're more likely to make good food decisions.

From what I have learned, there is no easy way to lose weight. The best way to lose weight is eat a reasonably healthy diet and excercize 3-5 times per week for a half hour each. I personally run 7or 8 miles every other day or so (thus I eat all the shit I want). However, not rewarding yourself is an awful option- just watch how you eat and work out.

Rewarding yourself doesn't have to mean going out and eating mcdonalds.

There are so many light, healthy treats that taste so much better and are cheap and easy to make at home.

As well, why does a reward have to be food?
I know that when I reach my goal weight, Im not going to go out and celebrate with a big mac meal.

I'm getting the tattoo I've been planning out for months.
