Sorry for some much abrevs.
I don't feel like spelling out all my words today... (At least, not spelling out some.)
Anyway, yeah... antipsychotics.
I just want to know if anyone has any experience with them, good or bad.
I've only been on two antipsychs so far, but the one that I'm on apparently has a bunch of horrifying side effects, like brain zaps, lactation, extreme stiffness and weird speech issues. The other antipsych I was on before was also used as an add-on to my antidepressants, but the antipsych that I'm on now is just by itself.
I'm willing to hear everyone's experiences with antipsychs, but I'm really more interested in a woman's experience, (as it seems most of the weird side effects are sexual.) but anyone's experience would definitely be appreciated.
I'm sure my doctors already outweighed the benefits over the risks, but... I just want to know if anyone else had any weird experiences on antipsychs.
Do I make any sense? I feel like it made sense what I'm asking in my head, but when I read the words on the computer it sounds scattered.
*Oh, and btw, I DO throw rage fits.
If I get overly aggressive at you, just ignore me.
Overall, if you need help, please feel free to ask me for it.
Personally I have had no exprience with them but my school counseler thinks I should be on them (my sychiatrist doesn't so Im not going to take them).... But my step dad was saying that an ex of his took them he said it made all her emotions go on a scale of 1-10 a three
Every thing is just a new sensation, accept it and move on.
No need to focus on it and label it bad or good.
Yikes!
I've heard of some people getting really "emotionless" too while taking antipsychs.
I've really only been taking my meds at a high-ish dose for a week now, so hopefully I won't have any of those bad side effects...
But I'd still like to know what I'm getting myself into by taking these. xD
Some psychs, I feel, tend to sugarcoat side effects and horror stories so that you won't be scared to take medicine.

I didn't have many bad side effects on my first set of anti depressants. just a general decline in the intesity of my emotions.
But when my therapists and the clinical psychologists decided I needed stronger anti psychotics... heh... it was frightening.
My muscles were stiff. My speech became weird. My thoughts were slow. I gained ten pounds in a month(not so bad in my case), I had difficulty chewing and swallowing food, the smallest tasks exhausted me... by the time I decided to stop taking them I had developed a phobia of them and was convinced they poisoned/stole my soul or something like that.. heh.
Oddly enough, I'm currently back on them, but taking cogentin(Spell Check?) to counter some of the side effects. but one of those leaves an awful taste in my mouth. I just wanted to stay sane so I could help my friends better and not show them my my unappealing nature.
Ee, I've noticed it seems like all the problems start happening on higher doses. I'm on 1.5mg of risperdal and my pdoc wants to keep upping it to 3mg for one year. I'm not sure if I want to keep taking my meds (what, with all the bad side effects) but I don't have much choice, I guess.

To be honest, I don't know if it makes me feel "ill" but I don't feel very good on it most days. :/
I feel like it's making my heart beat faster and sometimes I just feel blah. My back gets stiff and I feel like it's just making me feel crappy physically. I feel like it makes my boobs hurt too. (and I'm like SUPER worried that it'll make me start lactating or something crazy.) xD

Have you told your therapist about the side effects? It didn't get any physical pain, but muscular stiffness is common but you should still mention it to your doctor. Are you on cogentin or benzotropine as well?
I am definitely going to talk to my psychiatrist about it during our next appointment (which is in like a month or so.)
I'm not sure if it's just me worrying myself into having side effects or if they are actual side effects, y'know? But yeah, I'm definitely talking to my psych about it ASAP.
I'm actually not on any other meds right now, just the risperdal. I used to be on Seroquel and Remeron, but they only helped for a short while, then just messed things up for me later.
